The bone that supports teeth needs the stimulus of a tooth root to function properly. When a root is missing after tooth loss, the bone starts to deteriorate.
Conventional dentures don’t replace a tooth root, but dental implants do. The titanium in the implant fuses with bone to form a synthetic tooth root.
